FOLD cover angle

If you’d been with me yesterday, you would have heard a lot of nervous deep breaths, followed by excited squealing. Why? Because I hit “publish” on FOLD, my first ebook through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). It was, I’ll be honest, a little scary. I’d bought ISBNs, but when I registered the title with the ISBN, uploaded the text and cover photo, set the cost information and all the other stuff, and hit the “publish” button, I felt like I was getting away with something. Like I was supposed to ask permission, and I didn’t, and I was being very naughty indeed.

Which is weird, because the whole POINT of publishing online is that you can put pretty much anything up, anytime, for anyone to see.

Of course as an author I hope everyone likes my work, even though realistically I know that not everyone can like the same thing, and that’s how it should be. I just hope that for the people who don’t really like it, if they leave reviews, they’re more along the lines of “it wasn’t really my cup of tea” and not along the lines of “what did this idiot think she was doing, she’s terrible, she should go kill herself” etc. – you know, the way people on the internet can sometimes get.

But I guess now all I can do is wait and see. A million thanks to those of you who have already pre-ordered. If you haven’t and you’re interested, you can find the book on Amazon here.

What do you think?
