Today I had to go to the post office to mail something, and while I was there I asked for a sheet of one dollar stamps. The woman asked why I needed dollar stamps; I told her that I have a lot of international pen pals. She was SO CONFUSED as to why I didn’t just buy the international forever stamps. I told her, I already have three sheets of international forever stamps, but I bought them when international postage cost $1.20. International postage now costs $1.15, so if I use the stamps I purchased at $1.20 each, I’m losing five cents every time.
It makes me laugh (and also makes me sad) that postal employees don’t understand that stamps are purchased currency, and that smart people aren’t going to give their money away by using postage they purchased at a higher price than the current cost.
Or is that just me?
What do you think?
