You guys, I’m so far behind. Sorry!
My coworker and friend is LEAVING me for another job (for a better commute), so I’ve been consumed in panic and stress trying to wrap my head around the circus of insanity that I’ll be taking over from her.
Quick update – I finished Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. It made me so happy I cried at the end. Plus, maybe I’m just out of the loop but I’ve never seen pictures of the Google campus, so reading the descriptions was a really cool mini-adventure within the book.
Right now I’m reading The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. I really liked her previous The Historian and was excited to pick this one up.
In between the two I attempted The Hare With Amber Eyes but got bored, and read Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti by Genevieve Valentine, whose short stories I’ve always admired in Lightspeed Magazine. It was a bit of an adjustment to read something novel length by her; the style that I love in her short stories doesn’t work quite as well, in my opinion, in a longer work, but I enjoyed it just the same.
I’ll be back later. Maybe tonight. With pictures of the cupcakes I’ll be making. Unless I forget.
See you soon ^_^
What do you think?
