So, I’ve been reading a lot about letter-writing, something which is near and dear to my heart. I participated in February’s InCoWriMo (International Correspondence Writing Month) and sent letters all over, and you may not know it, but April is National Letter Writing Month in the USA.
I don’t think I want to go through another month of introducing myself to potential brand-new pen-pals daily, but it got me thinking. Because I do love to write – letters, stories, whatever. Pair that with today’s snowy (snowy!! snowy!??!?!??!) weather and lack of sunshine making me a little sad and sentimental, and I hit on what might be a neat idea:
fictional love letters.
I’m thinking about asking my friends on social media to submit photographs. I’d make up a story using that photo as a starting point for fictional memories, and then write a letter based on those fabricated memories. Ultimately, I’d post the letter/story here on the blog (and possibly the photo, with the submitter’s permission).
It would go beyond April; sort of a meandering thing that lets me stretch a different muscle and write something new as the inspiration strikes.
It probably seems weird to people who don’t like to write, but to me this sounds like a ton of fun.
What do you think?
